Polarization and Transmission Properties of Metamaterial-Based Three-Dimensional Plasmonic Structure

AbstractPolarization and transmission properties of metamaterial-based 3-D plasmonic structure are investigated using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) methods. The structure is composed of metallic nanoboxes periodically placed on the SiO(2) substrate. We simulate and compare characteristics of transmission for four different metal materials (i.e., Ag, Au, Al, and Cu) in terms of the functionality of linear to circular polarization transformation. Results indicate that Al-material-based nanostructure with optimized parameters can provide the highest transmission of 39.62% around the wavelength of 550 nm.
